Frederick (Rick) Holland was born to the late Norma Jean (Turner) Holland and Frederick Cole Holland in Memphis, Tennessee in 1951 and died in Greenwood, Indiana on March 7, 2015 at the age of 63.Rick was married for 39 years to Janet Harrold of Lorain, Ohio. They had one child, Michelle. Janet passed away in 2010. In 2011, Rick found his high school girlfriend, Ann Otto, on FaceBook. Though Ann was living in Seattle, they found that they still had feelings for each other and Ann moved to Greenwood to marry Rick. On June 8, 2012 they were married.Rick was a Tool and Die Maker for many years, but inspired by his Army Service as a medic. He decided to change careers in his early 50’s and become a nurse. He received his bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Indiana University in May of 2012. Rick was also an active member of the Mason’s for many years, a sports and racing fan, a motorcycle and car enthusiast. He bought a corvette in 2013 and loved to cruise in it around the Suds on Friday night. Rick had a quick wit and a warm heart and knew how to make people laugh. He will be greatly missed by many people.He is survived by his wife, Ann and his daughter, Michelle Holland of Louisiana. Also by his grandchildren, Zach Ross and Amanda Ross and their children. Also, by his brother, Greg Holland and sister-in-law, Terri Holland and their son, Cole, Rick’s nephew. Rick is also survived by Janet’s family, including his Mother-in-law Marjorie Harrold, sister-in-law (and great friend) Patty Wolanczyk, her husband, John, their daughter Nancy and her family. Plus many other Harrold family members and many dear friends from his two careers.The service will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 14 at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis 46227, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be Friday, March 13, from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
