Gaye Anne Riner Gott, 68, of Jamestown, IN passed away on Tues., Jan. 19, 2016, after a fight with cancer. Gaye was born to Robert and Helen Knox Riner on Oct. 3, 1947. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Riner. Family and friends were Gaye’s passion. She is survived by her husband, friend, and companion, Edward Gott. They were married on July 12, 1969. Gaye was very proud of her 46 year marriage and Ed has been her support throughout their life together. She was so proud of being a mother to three sons; Neil Gott, Brian (Kylene Barker) Gott, and Kurt (April Fisher) Gott. Her six grandchildren brought her such delight; Jaxson, Drew, Emmerson, Ella, Kaity and Jagger Gott were blessed to call her Mamaw and Emaw. She is also survived by her sister, Jayne (Ron) Riner Thompson; her brother, John (Kathy) Riner; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Ron) Gott Dixon. Gaye was proud of all of her family, including many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She will be sorely missed. Gaye’s other passion was teaching. She attended ISU in Terre Haute. She began as the first speech pathologist in 1969 for the Western Boone School system. She drove a van from school to school to service her speech and hearing students. Gaye then took some time to have her children and returned to teaching as an elementary school teacher. She taught for 28 years and retired in 2010. Gaye loved teaching Social Studies and telling stories about history and making it come alive for her students. Finally, Gaye’s passion was Western Boone athletics. She especially loved football! She and Ed attended most all sporting events and thoroughly enjoyed watching her sons and now grandkids participate! Gaye lived life to the fullest. She never met a stranger. She loved to tell stories. She was quick with a laugh and loved to make others laugh too. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Services and their help in making Gaye’s final days at home comfortable. A special thank you to Rev.
