Ainsley Jo Phillips left a message on June 24, 2016:
Joe has always been an amazing and unique guy. I met him briefly several years ago but got to know him better when I asked him if he could give me change for some denomination of folding money (not sure if it were $1. $5. or $10) because I wanted to play more Ms. PacMan and didn't want to lose my spot by walking away from the game. Not long after that, I met him long enough to talk with him for an hour or more when he was manning his family's parking lot. He shared his iced tea with me, and the friendship stuck. This took place back around 1982 or 1983. It's hard to believe that he's gone now. Some people have said that he talked too much -- and, sometimes, he was guilty-as-charged. But I wish I could hear him "talking too much" again. Someday, I'll be with him again. For now, I'm just glad that I had the chance to be friends with him! Joe wasn't just my friend alone but he was also a wonderful friend to (among several others) my folks; my goddaughter(Michelle) who had a big crush on him when she was little; and my mom's first cousin, Juanita, who was a fellow Anderson Indian fan.
