Georgiana Ida Rupprecht Schroeder of Zionsville, Indiana, was born July 20,1931, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Paul E. and Mildred (Kassing) Rupprecht and died October 24, 2023, in Zionsville, Indiana at age 92.
Georgi was baptized (1931) and confirmed (1945) at Trinity Lutheran Church (Indianapolis) and graduated from Trinity’s Grade School (1945). She was a graduate of Shortridge High School (1949) and Valparaiso University (1953), where she met the love of her life John P. Schroeder of Coal Valley, Illinois. Georgi completed her education at Methodist Hospital (Indianapolis) Medical Technologist school. John and Georgi were married April 30, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran (Indianapolis) and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Following two years at Fort Sam Houston (San Antonio, TX) while John was in the Army and a year of John’s graduate school at the University of Illinois, John and Georgi moved to Zionsville, Indiana in 1958. When her children started college, Georgi returned to the workforce as a Medical Technologist at St. Vincent Hospital (Indianapolis).
Georgi responded to Christ’s call from the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5:16. “…to let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven”. Georgi let the light of Christ shine through her actions and the way she lived her life so that others would glorify her Lord and Savior.
Following her parents’ example of service, she was involved in many community and church organizations, including: Lutheran Child and Family Services (Lutherwood); the Valparaiso University Guild where she was the Indianapolis chapter president; Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Indianapolis) where she was a member of the Dorcas Society and a Sunday School teacher; and Christ Lutheran Church (Zionsville) where she belonged to the sewing group and prayer group.
She served the community of Zionsville as a member of the Psi Iota Xi service organization, the Village Homemakers, and the all-volunteer Zionsville Emergency Ambulance, where she was in the second group of emergency medical technicians. The ZEA was the first of its kind in Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Mildred Rupprecht, her husband John P. Schroeder, and her brother and only sibling Paul E. Rupprecht, Jr.
She is survived by two sons: John P. Jr. (Cynthia) Of Granger, Indiana, and Steven F. (Barbara) of Zionsville, Indiana; four grandchildren: Robert P. (Ariel) Schroeder, David C. (Katie) Schroeder, Gwenlynn E. (Ben) Ortman, and Heidi A. Schroeder; and six great-grandchildren: Luke, Levi, and Marie Schroeder; Sierra and Josiah Schroeder; and Nathaniel Ortman.
The family is grateful for the loving care Georgi received from the Hoosier Village Health Center and AseraCare Hospice.
