So sorry for your loss. I wish I could make it back home to see all of you and give my condolences in person, but just know I'll carry memories of Sheshaw with me forever. She always supported my passions by showing up to Will and I's football games and even to whenever Jaylen and I would play a set at the OLG festival. I remember her head bobbing to the music and being genuinely happy that she was surrounded by family and friends. She also helped so much in developing my faith. She took Will and I out for DQ (and not just ice cream, we had to get those chicken tenders with the gravy too!) after our confirmation meetings and we would talk about what we learned that night. She always directed what we learned about our faith into how we could help the people around us. I know she succeeded in doing that in her own life. In every moment I interacted with her, I always felt loved, respected, and cared for. I will miss her dearly and I send all of you guys my love.

Gertie was my cousin for over seventy-two years. She also was my friend. She had a fantastic sense of humor as well as a wealth of wisdom about so many important things in life. I am sad that she will not be a part of my life anymore. I always felt a special connection to her because she was born in the same year as my only sister Nancy. I like to think that the two of them are sitting together in heaven laughing and having coffee or pop together. I will miss our almost weekly phone conversations and her Hello There! when I called and I love you when our phone calls ended. I love you, Gertie and I will miss you until we can meet again. Rest in peace and much love, Cindy

I have known Gertie since I was a child. My mother, Em, was her hairdresser for many, many years in the neighborhood "beauty shop" that was in the house I grew up in. Gertie was also one of my mom's best and most loyal friends and a great moral and spiritual support over the years, during the difficult times all family's face, and especially as my mom's health failed in her final years. We will miss Gertie's indomitable upbeat and fun spirit, her great sense of humor, and her always warm and comforting presence. Even my two sons and my nephew had the privilege to know Gertie as they grew up, and are also very saddened by her passing. Truly one-of-a-kind, as evidenced by her wonderful family and profusion of friends. I will take comfort now to imagine Gertie and Em are sitting at the kitchen table in heaven, having cookies and coffee and smiling down on us. Gertie will always have a special place my family's hearts.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Gertie (& Thad) were amazing Godparents who continued to send me Birthday Cards every year around my Birthday. More than that, Aunt Gertie was an amazing human, being a Grandparent & Great-Grandparent to so many of those kids, and further being a fantastic parent to her own Children!! Thanks for being an awesome Aunt, Aunt Gertie!
