Helen Christine “Tootsie” Huber Ford, 67, of Indianapolis, died Sunday evening, December 27, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Helen was born January 1, 1948 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Ernest G. & Marie Aebker Huber; they preceded her in death.Mrs. Ford grew up on the Indianapolis south side and was a 1966 graduate of Southport High School. Helen spent nearly her entire adult life around education. Many knew from her years as a secretary in Perry Township Schools. After her children were grown, Helen became a secretary in Wayne Township Schools where she worked from 1998 until her retirement earlier this year in February. While working at Wayne Township, she was honored several times with human relations awards for her caring and dedicated work. In addition to her work with the schools, she was also a fifteen year member of the Perry Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.While her work was important to her, Helen had a creative fun-loving side always willing to help others who might be in need. She loved life’s simple pleasures like bowling, trips to the casino, loving her grand-dogs, and most importantly, caring for her family. Helen will forever be deeply loved, treasured, and missed by all who knew her.Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Robert Lee “Bob” Ford, whom she married July 5, 1969 in Southport Christian Church; her children, Julia R. “Dude” Ford and Robert Lee “Rob” Ford II and his wife, Meagan. Also surviving are her sisters, Betty Golden, Anna Rothwell, and Suella “Potsie” Dowell and her husband, Chuck. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Earnest Huber, Jr. and her sister, Bernice Armstrong.Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 with a service beginning at 2:00 pm at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227. Burial will follow the service on Wednesday at Mt.
