Howard Earl Whitaker Sr.

Howard Earl Whitaker, age 91, of Indianapolis, passed away at his home on Sunday afternoon, September 24, 2023.

Howard was born on July 14, 1932, in Indianapolis, to the late Edgar and Lillian (Spoonmore) Whitaker. He was a 1950 graduate of Franklin Central High School. He worked as a barber and farmer for many years as well as retiring from International Harvester/Navistar after 25 years of service. He enjoyed being outside and working on his land with his cattle, flying airplanes and going hiking in state parks. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Howard “Butch” Earl Whitaker, Jr. (Pamela Sue Anderson-Whitaker) of Greenfield, IN, Theresa “Terry” Forbes (Ron) of Paragon, IN, Clay Whitaker (Nancy) of Greenwood and Tammy Sue Whitaker of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Heather Muse (Cory) of Whiteland; Mike Forbes (Shannon) of Greenwood, Charles Creasey and James Creasey of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Seth, Levi and Sabrina; great-great-grandchildren, Kori and Rayven.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Ann Whitaker.

A graveside burial will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 1PM at Greenwood Cemetery.
