Dr. James H. Hill, Jr., 76, of Carmel, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 26, 2015, surrounded by family. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland.� His father owned Hill’s Toy and Novelty Stores located in� Hagerstown, MD, Harrisonburg, VA, Martinsburg, WV and York and Chambersburg, PA.Dr. Hill was an Eagle Scout, Park Ranger, and a graduate of Yale Medical School who was double boarded in both Internal Medicine and Psychiatry.� He served in Vietnam as an army physician and he worked for the VA system for many years.� He was proud to serve his country and his fellow veterans until his recent retirement.He is survived by his wife, also a retired physician, of 42 years, daughters: Linda Akers (Daniel) of Indianapolis, Laura Elzey (Patrick) of Indianapolis, grandchildren, Evie, James, Louis and Lucia; sister, Julie Wayland of San Antonio, Texas; and two nephews, James and Christopher, both from Texas.A private military service will be held for him the first week of March, 2015.� Any memorial donations can be sent to a reputable charity for veterans.
