James Wolford Stephens, 84 years old of North Salem, IN, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in Brownsburg Healthcare Center. He was born March 8, 1927 in Taylor County, KY, son of the late Oscar Stephens and Myrtle Wise. He married Jean Cornett on August 5, 1950 in Louisville, KY. She preceded him in death. James served in the US Army during WWII. He was a life long member of the American Legion. Surviving are sons, James “Tony” (Lola) Stephens of North Salem, Brad (Joy) Stephens of Fredericksburg, VA, and Donnie (Patti) Stephens of Indianapolis, daughters, Robin (Jim) Lowe and Pam (Tim) Parke, both of Jamestown, aunt, Margaret McDonald of Campbellsville, KY, brother-in-law, Manuel Sapp of Campbellsville, KY, 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Sapp. Friends will be received Monday, December 19, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, Indiana. Services will be held at Porter Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Gossett officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
