It is with profound sadness that the family of Janet Marlene (Young) Wilson, 78, announces her passing on February 13, 2024. Janet was born in Summersville, West Virginia on January 25th, 1946. Janet and her family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1959, where she attended George Washington High School and was a majorette.
Janet was the mother of two daughters whom she loved dearly. Janet was known to be a fierce protector and champion of her daughters, always standing by them in good times and bad. During her girl’s childhood, Janet was a Girl Scout Leader with the nickname of Mrs. Crabtree, an avid garage-sale-hopper, and an angler. Janet was one of the original members of the Indiana Bass ’n Gals. She fished the pro circuit across the country and loved sharing stories about her time spent fishing with her friends during tournaments.
In addition to being a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife, Janet was a wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. To all who knew her, Janet was known for having a kind word and a smile for everyone she met and always offering a helping hand. During her working years, she was a bookkeeper, which she loved doing. Janet also loved gardening and after retirement, she worked part-time at a local plant nursery.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Dawn Stinnett (Jeff), Gina Schenk (Joe); her grandchildren, Amber Agal (John), Kevin Stinnett (Becca), Kasidy Schenk, Trent Schenk, and Kamryn Schenk; her great-grandchildren, Alexia Harden, Bryson Stinnett, Avery Taylor, Cameron Stinnett, Baylee Stinnett, and Bentley Stinnett; and her brother and sister, Rusty Spinks (Patty) and Charlotte Weasner-Hall (James).
She is preceded in death by: George Wilson (husband), Brian George Stinnett (grandson), Merle Spinks (mother), Wess Spinks (stepfather) Gene Young (father), Dan Young (brother)(Carole), and Patty Spinks (sister-in-law) (Rusty).
