Janice Brown, 93, of Chesterfield, passed away on September 12, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. Janice was born on October 13, 1929, in Norma, Tennessee to the late Freeman and Sarah (Burchfield) Sexton. On June 7, 1951, she married the love of her life, Mitchell Brown, until his passing in 2004, with a love that endured for 53 years. She had the most rewarding job as a homemaker. Janice was an extremely hard worker, with a passion for gardening and flowers. Most importantly, she was dedicated to her family and loved them tremendously.
Janice will be dearly missed by her children, Roger L. (Mina) Brown and Barbara G. (Larry) Hoppes; grandchildren, Anthony Brown, Sarah (Eddie) Goff, Bonnie Brown, and Rebecca (Darin) Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Fleenor, Thomas Rose, Austin Fleenor, Braelin Reynolds, Gabriel Reynolds, Andrew Brown, Aaron Brown, and Quinton Goff; and special nieces and nephew, Sharlete South, Ellie Sexton, and Michael Pettigrew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mitchell; son, William B. Brown; brothers, Arvil L. Sexton, Clifford Sexton, and A.J. Sexton; and sisters, Elma Weigel, Marie Rose, and Thelma Furr.
The visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson 46013. The funeral ceremony will be at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Middletown, IN.
