Jerald Thomas Neiman, a resident of Indianapolis and Greenwood, passed away on December 14, 2020 at the age of 63. Jerry is survived by his wife Dee Neiman, son Chad Neiman, daughter Chelsea Mowry (Tim), granddaughter Elizabeth Mowry, mother Carol Neiman, and sister Julie (Alan) Anderson. His father Ralph Neiman and sister Jean (Jim) Canter predeceased him. Jerry was born to Ralph and Carol Neiman on October 28, 1957 in Franklin, IN and raised in Homecroft, IN. Growing up, he was active with basketball, camping and drumming in the Southport HS band. Jerry graduated Southport High School in 1976 then from Ball State University in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he developed many of his lifelong friendships. Out of college, he worked in IT for 35 years and retired from Liberty Mutual. He was a member of the Southport Mason Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine. He was a long-time member of the Valle Vista men’s league as golf was a life-long passion for him.Jerry and Dee were high school sweethearts and married November 13, 1981. Living in Indianapolis and Greenwood, they raised their two children, Chad and Chelsea. His two children were his pride and joy. He loved spending time with them, especially golfing. He enjoyed attending home and landscaping shows with Chad. Last year, he was thrilled to walk Chelsea down the aisle to be married. It was a blessing that Jerry was able to hold and adore Elizabeth, his only grandchild born this year. She was his “little princess.” He was the life of the party with his nieces and nephews. Jerry touched so many lives throughout his 63 years of life. He was the most positive person with an infectious laugh and quick wit. He never met a stranger and made you feel comfortable instantly. He had numerous running jokes and was supportive to all, complete with bear hugs. He maintained a positive outlook on life throughout his battle with pulmonary fibrosis and subsequent recovery from his lung transplant in 2016. His family was so very blessed to have had an additional four years of life with Jerry following his transplant. We will miss his talks on the latest golf clubs and technology gadgets to buy; his love for music and movies; his love for Michigan, Norway and other travels; his stories from the Sigma Chi reunions; his laughter; and of course, his infatuation for Diet Mountain Dew along with a Long’s donut. Jerry was one of a kind! He leaves us all with broken hearts but wonderful memories and jokes we will cherish forever. Until we meet again…The Celebration of Life service for Jerry Neiman will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 10:30 am at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Due to the pandemic restrictions, attendance is limited to family only. The funeral service will be live streamed via Facebook Live. I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. He truly was one of the most positive, if not, THE MOST positive person I have had the privilege to meet. He truly was a man that anyone should have felt honored to have known. I did chuckle reading about the Mountain Dew...I agree, Jerry did love his Mountain Dew! He will truly be missed. ❤

I had the pleasure of helping to care for Jerry after his lung transplant as a PCA. I am friends of Chelsea's and had never met her dad or the rest of her family but had heard fond stories of him. After meeting him, I immediately felt like I had known him for a long time. I immediately recognized where Chelsea had not only gotten her looks but also her personality and sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. <3

Jerry leaves us with footprints of kindness and love that will continue to inspire us. He will be missed by all.Lots of hugs to the entire family during this difficult time.

Dee, Chad, and Chelsea - we are so very sorry for your loss. Jerry was always so kind, loving, and fun to be around. I truly will cherish all of my childhood memories that involve Jerry, his great laugh, and big hugs. I'm so thankful that my dad got to have such a special best friend. It seems that all the good stories I hear involve Jerry in some capacity. We will continue to pray for everyone, and I look forward to creating future memories with him in honor.

Heaven has truly gained and angel. Jerry was not only a wonderful person but a great big brother. He could always put a smile on any ones face, make a person laugh and give a big hug when needed. Give great advice, and loved unconditionally. Enjoying many nights sitting talking at the club, and laughing till my stomach hurt.. Dee---you and Jerry were always the sunshine at every gathering. There was never any mistake on who was laughing when it was Jerry---I remember not seeing him for 25+ years and did not recognize him until I heard that wonderful laugh!! Peace be with you.

We were so fond of Jerry! How could anyone not be?! Our fondest memories involved golf, euchre, the member dinner/dance, and of course, watching our kids grow up living on the course at Valle Vista! God must have had a pretty important assignment for Jerry to leave us so early! Lovely Service. Thank you, Alan, for the stories. The slide show was great. Jerry's father and my father were double related. Their mothers were sisters and their fathers were cousins. I was the same age as Jean. We had great family get togethers. When we were little, my brothers were acting like they were going to punch each other in the nose. I was too little to realize it was a game and I really punched Jerry in the nose! He never let me forget that and always mentioned every time he saw me. Jerry will be missed.

Dee, Chelsea, and Chad,We've so sorry for your loss but we're not sorry that Mark and Jan bought us into their group of friends. As a result, we got to know Jerry and you. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry.you left us much too soon! Much too soon just like your sister Jean.My Mom was the last of four children, but at age 7 became an aunt when Orville and Cora had a daughter named Carol. Mom and Carol were close throughout life, and needless to say, so were we kids. My sister Jan was a few years older than Jean and I was two years older than Jerry - - YOU ARE BOTH MISSED SO TERRIBLY MUCH BY ALL OF US!When we'd get together as kids, Jerry and I would naturally play together. I can recall visiting at the Homecroft house, playing in the basement and all of those wonderful metal John Deere farm implement toys that Jerry had on the shelves down there. Jerry was my friend and as kids, as close to being my brother as I would ever have.Jerry's laugh - - now some will tell me I'm nuts or crazy, but when I hear Will Smith in some show where he lets loose with a big boisterous laugh, I swear all I hear is Jerry's big laugh - - I think Jerry had it first! So many good memories are associated with Jerry. We cannot remember a time we could not hear his laughter, his ease at making anyone feel a home and his obvious love for his family. Gary told me recently all the fun things they did together when the family was growing up in Southport. He said it was always a fun place to be and Gary looked forward to time spent with Jerry knowing it was gonna be a blast. He shared story after story. I came on the scene after Jerry and Dee were married and always enjoyed time with them and their family. He will be greatly missed, forever in our . We are so sorry we cannot say our final goodbyes in person. We love you Jerry, big hugs.

There really are no new words I can add to describe Jerry. We all knew he was a kind, great natured, fun guy. I just wanted to say how sorry I am, for all of us, to have lost such a wonderful person. He was such a good man. He was great and patient with children, and tender hearted with the older folks. He was well liked, and very well loved. We will miss you, Jerry. Dee (and family), Jerry was a friend and a brother to me. Though I didn't see him much since graduation, every time he did it was like no time passed at all. His demeanor, infectious laugh and quick wit will always be in my memories of him! All honor to his name! I pray for God's peace to you all.

Many wonderful memories with Jerry growing up. Jerry and I were friends from an early age. Both of us played the drums all through school from Homecroft Elementary to Southport High School. Dee and family, so sorry for your loss. Reading Jerry's obituary brought back so many memories and I am so glad that he got some of the great joys in life during his final years. We are enjoying our first granddaughter this year, and I am so pleased that his life was blessed by Elizabeth. Walking Chelsea down the aisle... I can see him beaming with joy. All of us who met Jerry at the Sigma Chi house, know the man that he was... loving, caring, kind... and never wavering in his willingness to help a friend. I wish you the best as you adapt to life without your loved one. I know his touch and his example of how to fight and do the right things will be cherished and enduring legacies. May all of your grieving processes be at your personal discretion and pace.. As you seek comfort at this time, do so knowing that Jerry was loved by many, including me.

Jerry was a great Sigma Chi brother and was always helpful and kind. He was also a great gentleman. I will miss him. Woody '82.

I only knew Jerry through work, but he always seemed to be smiling and positive when I'd pass him in the hallways of Liberty Mutual. My sincere condolences go out to his wife, children and extended family.

I worked with Jerry at Liberty Mutual in Claims IT and wanted you to know every time my husband Bob and I prayed since Jerry's lung issues we included him. I appreciated Jerry's kindness at work. Also I knew Jean as I went to Southport graduating in 73.

I have always admired Jerry for his being able make you feel loved. Thou not a blood brother , he was my brother. The laughs and great times I've enjoyed with him will never fade in my memories. Love you my brother. Fly high my brother. Until we meet again.
