Joan A. Sauter

Joan A. Sauter, 84, of Anderson, passed away peacefully at her residence on September 22, 2023.  She was born on September 26, 1938 to the late Vincent Toolen, Sr. and Marcella (O’Connor) Toolen in St. Louis, Missouri.

Joan was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anderson.  She was very active in the community, giving her time volunteering for the St. Mary’s Neighborhood Food Pantry, St. Vincent De Paul, and was an auxiliary at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital.  In her free time Joan loved playing cards with The Ladies, going on cruises around the world, and spending time with her family and friends.

Joan is loved and survived by her son, David Sauter; daughters, Michelle Bitner, Ellen (Bruce Pisarek) Sauter, and Constance (Allen) Percifield; brothers, Vincent Toolen, Jr., and Timothy Toolen; grandchildren, Maggie, Liz, Sarah, Kendra, Nicholas, Sophia, and Harrison; great-granddaughter, Katherine; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Sauter; and brother, Patrick Toolen.

The visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53^rd St., Anderson, IN, 46013.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, IN, 46016 with Rev. Tom Metzger and Rev. Bob Williams officiating.  Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made out the St. Mary’s Building Fund and St. Vincent De Paul.
