Joseph Kent Underwood, 76, of Pendleton, passed away March 20, 2024 at his residence in Fishers.
He was born October 2, 1947 in Indianapolis to John and Marianne (Presser) Underwood, Jr. and lived in Pendleton almost his entire life.
Although Kent worked and retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson he was a lifelong farmer with his father, brother and sons.
In 1965, Kent graduated from Pendleton High School and then attended Anderson University where studied accounting.
Kent was a founding member of Fall Creek Christian Church in Pendleton where he served the Lord in many capacities including Treasurer, Head of Missions, Deacon and Elder for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (King) Underwood; three children, Kyle (Heather) Underwood of Markleville, Kerrie Beth (John) Underwood-Salsberry of Rochester, Michigan and John Craig Underwood of Pendleton; mother Marianne (Presser) Underwood of Pendleton; nine grandchildren, Conner Salsberry (Jamee), Isabella Salsberry, Lily Salsberry, Ross Underwood, Leigha Underwood, Alex Underwood, Brenner Underwood, Charlotte Underwood and Olivia Underwood; a great grandson Joseph Declan Salsberry; several nieces and nephews and cousin, Beth (Bill) Compton.
He was preceded in death by his father John Underwood, Jr.; brother, Douglas Underwood and wife, Alfa Underwood and his beloved grandson, Joseph Cooper Salsberry.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024 and 10 to 11 a.m, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Fall Creek Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Fall Creek Christian Church, 1102 W. 700 S., Pendleton with Tom Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Pendleton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fall Creek Christian Church Missions Committee.
Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
