Juanita M. (Smith) (Sutliff) Vandivier, passed away February 13, 2023. Born April 13, 1927, in Indianapolis to the late Ralph E. and Wilda (Hancock) Smith.
Preceded in death by her husband, Wendell (Woody) D. Vandivier, stepson Danny (Butch) Vandivier, son, Stan Sutliff, Mother-in-law Letha Borders, brothers: Clifton and Robert Smith, brothers-in-law, Raymond and Ed Vandivier and sister in laws, Ruth Smith and Wilma Vandivier.
Survived by Daughter, Nancy (Mike) DeCamp of Indianapolis, IN; Daughter-in-law, Gail Sutliff of Wilmington, NC; Son, Stu (Candy) Sutliff of Ninety Six, SC; Eight granddaughters: Heather Sutliff of Arlington, VA; Amy (Brent) Lentz of Harrisonburg, VA; Megan (Pat) Marvil of Coeur d’Alene, ID; Lauren (Matt) Sleesman of Wilmington, NC; Kelly (Sean) Price of Francis, UT; Jill (Corey) Simpson of Raleigh, NC; Angela DeCamp of Indianapolis, IN; and Andrea DeCamp of Indianapolis, IN; and nine great grandchildren: Parker and Carter Lentz, Claire, Drew, Nora and Nell Sleesman; Josie and Max Marvil and Cooper Simpson; Sisters-in-law, Jean Smith and Pat Vandivier; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was a charter member of the Southport Order of Rainbow Girls Assembly #10 where she served as Worthy Advisor; a 50 plus year member of Southport Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 442 and later Beech Grove Chapter No. 465. She was a long-time member of Irvington Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis. She worked for the Indiana State Police, Public Employee Retirement Fund and was secretary to the Auditor of State (IN: 1951-1959) before devoting her efforts to her family, home and Indianapolis southside community.
She was a loving wife, adoring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to entertain and considered hospitality to be an extension of her Christian faith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Irvington Presbyterian Church (Indianapolis).
Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1:00 PM at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Ave. Indianapolis 46227, with Mike DeCamp officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service. Juanita will be laid to rest at Bluff Creek Cemetery following the service.
