Judith Anne “Judy” Paprocki, 82, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023. She was born January 1, 1941, in Gary to the late Leon & Bernice (Makowski) Pomianowski.
Judy studied at Alliance College. She then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Ball State Teachers College and then received a master’s degree in education from Butler University. When studying at Alliance she met Christopher Paprocki. They married on December 28, 1964, at St. Matthew’s Church in Hallandale, Florida.
Judy was a lifelong resident of Greenwood. She worked at Greenwood Middle School as a Language Arts Teacher for 34 years retiring in 1998. Judy was an active member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Church, where she assisted with food pantry, festivals, and many other activities. She was also a member of the Greenwood & Center Grove Tri Kappa and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sororities. Judy was creatively gifted, having spent her free time making jewelry, stained glass, personalized cards, and scrapbooks. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and painting.
Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Christopher C. Paprocki; daughter, Anne (Chip) Whitaker of Tampa, FL; son, Michael (Mary) Paprocki of Palm Harbor, FL; four grandchildren, Charles (Elizabeth) Whitaker, Elizabeth (Richard) Bennet, Andrew Whitaker, & Rachael Paprocki; one great grandchild, Charlotte Whitaker. She was preceded by her parents; brothers, Eddie, Leo & Al Pomianowski; sister, Irene Mako; and grandson, Christopher M. Paprocki.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Thursday at Our Lady of the Greenwood Church, 335 S. Meridian, Greenwood. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
