Larry Lee Shortridge, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away at his home on Friday, July 24, 2015. Larry was born in Indianapolis on May 14, 1940, to the late Glenn Charles and Hester (Foxworthy) Shortridge. He worked as a truck driver for Allison Gas Turbine Division, as the Assistant Director for Transportation for the Metropolitan School District of Perry Township, and as the head supervisor over the Perry Township Schools grounds department. He was also the owner of Shortridge Trucking and Excavating and Shortridge Custom Grating. Larry was active in many civic clubs in his community. He was a 32? Mason and a member of Evergreen-Oriental Lodge #500, as well as a past member of the Moose Lodge. He also participated in the Perry Township Charity Golf Outing and the Lyon’s Club Fish Fry. Larry was a wonderful husband, a loving father, and a caring grandfather. He loved his family with everything he had, and there wasn’t a selfish bone in his body. Everyone who knew and loved him will attest to his selflessness, kindness, generosity, and self-deprecating sense of humor. He put family above all else and was an extremely hard worker and a wonderful provider. Larry is survived by his wife and companion of 42 years, Bonnie (Snyder) Shortridge; children, Larry (Angel) Shortridge, Jr., Vanessa (Joe) Conner, Nicole (Chris) Loman, Kristin (Jeff) Tilton, Shelle (Tim) McMillan, and Marti (Robert) Ramsdell; brothers, Gerald Glenn (Mary) Shortridge, and Mike (Vicki) Shortridge; 16 grandchildren – Josh, Justin, Ashley, Sean, Alex, Elizabeth, Monica, John, Kailee, Aby, Joey, Landen, Brodie, Shelbi, Bryce, and Brett; 2 great-grandchildren – Blake and Taylor; 17 brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mark and Sue Snyder, Bruce and Susan Snyder, Barry Keith Snyder, Byron Kent and Kathy Snyder, Eric Snyder, Brett Snyder, and Beth Snyder; and 24 beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Hester Shortridge; his stepmother, Betty Shortridge; his sister, Charlotte Jean Lloyd; and his brother-in-law, Dean Snyder.A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, July 31, at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, Indianapolis, with visitation from 4 – 8 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
