Lea was born on April 23rd, 1949, in Watseka, Illinois to Vernon and Lucille Hammersley. After moving to Indianapolis, Lea began working for Eskenazi Health in human resources for over 10 years where she made many meaningful friendships. Over the years, Lea welcomed 2 beautiful children into the world, 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Her children remember her as a loving, selfless, and passionate mother who was always there to support and encourage them often with a gentle “this too shall pass”. Anyone who knows Lea, knows she lights up any room she walks in and can brighten anyone’s mood and when asked how she was, she most often responded “super duper” regardless of her circumstances.
Lea was passionate about her family, friends and church life and spent her time with those she loved most. She was a generous and kind-hearted individual who was an active and devout member of the Grace Pointe Church.
