Lois M. (George) Thompson, 93, of Greenwood passed away on February 16, 2024, at Community Hospital South. Lois was born in Jamestown (Russell County), KY on October 6, 1930, to Rubin and Lula Mae (Brockman) George.
Lois was very attractive and attentive to her health. She loved traveling, especially cruises. She loved Myrtle Beach. She loved her husband, Fred, who predeceased her and they were married for 64 years. She loved cardinals. She was a devoted wife and cared for her husband with Alzheimer’s for many years.
Lois is survived by her siblings: Linden B. George of Ferguson, KY, Paul Keith George of Bronson, KY, Mary Mae George of Lexington, KY, LaFern “Faye” Hedspath of Shepherdsville, KY, Shirley Ann Staley of Indianapolis, IN and Shirlen “Kay” Schweigel of Sheridan, IN; numerous nieces and nephews; sister and brother-in-laws: Bob (Carolyn) Kennedy of Indianapolis, IN, Kent (Irene) Thompson of Allon, TN and Martha (Lawrence) Rush f Salina, TN. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred Thompson.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
