Lori Lynn (Barker) Maxey, 63, of Greenfield, Indiana passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023. She was born February 22, 1960 in Indianapolis to the late Floyd and Margaret Christine (Kirkham) Barker.

Lori was an avid reader of science fiction and mystery books. She collected thimbles, masks and lighthouses. She also loved watching her grandchildren play sports, and enjoyed taking them places when they were growing up. She was a member of Villa Baptist Church. Lori worked for Hook’s Drug Store for twelve years, but spent almort twenty three years of her work life with Sigma Theta Tau International (an honor society for nursing). She received her Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, and an Associate Degree in computer science at the University of Indianapolis.

Lori is survived by her soul mate of almost thirty-three years, Dennis R. Maxey Sr.; sister, Brenda and brother Bryan Barker; stepchildren, Jennifer and Dennis Maxey Jr.; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Services for Lori are Friday, October 6 at 6:00 PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Frankin Township Chapel with visitation at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until time of service.

Sending our heartfelt condolences to you, Dennis. I'm missing my best friend of 50 years. We had so much fun together in our four years as college roommates and never forgot to call each other on our birthdays when we went our separate ways in life. I'll never forget the sound of her hearty laugh and the memories we shared over the years with our friends (the spring break trip to Florida on a Greyound bus was an "adventure" not to be repeated) and her visits to see me and Grizz when we lived in Shalimar, FL, the awesome plays we used to go see at Indiana Central U (now U of Indy), and so much more. I will miss her terribly. I'm so glad I was able to fly up to see her this summer. We were able to reminisce about high school and college and just be together for a very special day. She is no longer in pain and in a beautiful place now and that makes me smile in the midst of my sadness.
