Marlene R. Hoelzer Anderson Boone Dixon Burns, age 87, of Indianapolis, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
She was born in Beech Grove, IN on April 3, 1936, to Stanley S. Hoelzer and Nadine R. (Endsley) Bruton. On January 16, 1978, she married Jack Burns, who preceded her in death in 1991. She retired from Franklin Central High School Cafeteria after 31 years of service. She was a member of The Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, a member of The Eastern Star, Acton Chapter 174, for over 50 years as well as a member of the Beech Grove Order of The Moose over 30 years. She enjoyed laughing with her friends and family, drinking Coors Light, helping others in need, working in her yard and helping every stray animal that came to her. She will be greatly missed by those who truly knew her.
Survivors include a son, Bill Boone; a daughter, Nalene Ruth (Sissy) Berube; stepsons, John Patrick Burns, Ronnie Dixon, Daryl Dixon and Chuck Dixon; grandchildren, Terrell Boone, and William Boone; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kayla, Hannah and Haley Boone; and sisters, Linda Latimer and Jane Ann Kane; and friends and longtime caregivers, Linda Moeller and Debbie Hoff.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Charlie Boone and Kenneth Dixon.
Funeral services for Marlene will be held at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Franklin Township Chapel on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of at 2:00PM. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
