Martha “Rose” Murphy85, died February 15, 2022 in Indianapolis. She was born March 2, 1936 in Rising Sun, IN to Alfred and Mary (Jenner) Pavey. Rose graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1954, then worked in the clerical pool of the FBI office in Indianapolis. Rose married Leroy Murphy of Indianapolis on Nov. 18, 1956. They had 4 children who survive: Dr. Duane (Anita) Murphy, Bryan Murphy, Dr. Shannon (Tom) Pinson, and Lloyd (Libby) Murphy. After raising her children she worked as administrative assistant at Central Christian Church in Indianapolis and later at Lawrence United Methodist Church. Rose married her 2nd husband, Don Leckrone, on Feb. 18, 2012. He preceded her in death. Rose is survived by 8 grandchildren: Joshua (Ellie) Murphy, Charlotte, Patrick, and Collin Murphy, Marisa Pinson and Liana (Bryce) Bartkowiak, Jordan and Claire Murphy; 3 great-grandchildren: Zipporah & James Murphy, and Noah Lockhart; 3 brothers: Charles (Joan) Pavey, Tom (Shirley) Pavey and Jim (Sherry) Pavey; and 4 sisters: Helen (Phill) Owens, MaryLou (Doug) Sieben, Dottie (Bill) Roth, and Georgia Pavey. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: John and Bob Pavey; and 2 sisters: Betty Doughman and Ruth Pavey. She was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church where she presided over the United Methodist Women, sang in the chancel choir, and served in other committees and volunteer positions. She also served as a delegate to the Indiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 19, at 1:30 PM at Singleton & St. Pierre Funeral & Cremation Services, 7602 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN, 46227. The service was streamed on Facebook:Friends may visit the family before the service beginning at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. The family requests that guests wear facemasks during all indoor gatherings.
