In loving memory of our mother, we regretfully announce the passing of Mary Kathryn Williams on August 17, 2023. Mary was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.
Mary Kathryn Williams was born to Gerald and Kathryn Goodwin on April 13, 1942, in Beloit, Wisconsin. After graduating from Beloit Catholic High School, she attended Creighton University, Omaha, NE. In 1962 Mary met Donald Williams at a social gathering on the campus of Creighton University. They married in 1963.
Mary is survived by her husband, Donald Williams of Fillmore; daughter, Anne (Douglas) Kochell of Indianapolis; sons, Scott (Lisa) Williams of Zionsville and John (Cindy) Williams of Brownsburg; and by her grandchildren, Mackenzie and Wesley Kochell, Tess and Ellie Petro-Williams, Amanda McCalment, and three great-grandchildren, Eva, Violet, and Coraline McCalment. Her parents and brother, James Goodwin, preceded her in death.
Mary Kathryn Williams stayed actively engaged in the passions of her life: Family, friends, work, church, and volunteering. She took great pride in planning, organizing, and creating ideas for events ranging from neighborhood get-togethers to work events and church Masses. Her spirit of being engaged and involved is a legacy Mary leaves, which is bestowed upon family and friends. Mary lived one day at a time and did all she could to make the most of each day she was given.
Our mother was a kind, caring, and giving person who put the needs of her family before her own. She crafted handmade fleece tie blankets as donations and gifts to others. In addition to having careers at IN Oncology Hematology, the Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous, and Waterfront Insurance, Mary volunteered on various committees and events at Mary Queen of Peace. Mary became vested in creating an archival history for the Parish. Over time, she and the Archival Committee pieced together the history of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Mary was a strong woman who faced challenges in life with determination and dignity. Our mother inspired us all and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Mary was a woman of strong faith and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work, integrity, and perseverance. Growing up, Mom was always there for us. The most meaningful gifts she could ever give us are love, trust, and independence.
The Willaims family greatly acknowledges Lisa Noblit and Barb Sadler for providing Mary excellent care and comfort this year, Dr. Craig Johnson and the caring staff at The Waters of Greencastle, and Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services for Mary will be held on Tuesday, August 29th. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of Mass, beginning at 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 1005 West Main St., Danville, IN, 46122. Father Michael Fritsch will officiate. An interment will follow at a later date. Those wishing to send flowers may have them sent directly to the church.
