Mr. David C. Key

David Clark Key, age 66, husband of Kimberly, of Greenwood, passed away at his home on Monday, July 24, 2023.

David was born in Johnson County, IN on September 10, 1956, to the late Arlis Clark Key and Anna Lee (Morrow) Key. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1974. On November 26, 1988, he married the love of his life, Kimberly Larson, who survives. He was employed at Short Steel as a welder and foreman for over 30 years and genuinely loved going into work every day. He would always wake up happy and even sing in the shower. He was a league bowler at Southern Bowl in Greenwood. He also enjoyed playing softball, fishing and playing horseshoes. He was known to love to eat all the sweets, especially blackberry cobbler. He loved his family dearly and his girls were his pride and joy. He had great sense of humor and didn’t know a stranger. He had more friends than we could count. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife Kimberly of Greenwood, daughters, JoAnna Rice (Nicholas) of Rushville, IN and Emily Key of Whiteland; five siblings, Nina Morrow Dean of New Palestine, IN, Brenda Key Zachary (Wade) of Ashville, NC, Darrell Key (Amy Hogan) of Greenwood, Anthony Key (Natalie) of Knoxville, TN and Candace Key Ashby (Mark Culver) of Greenwood; one granddaughter, Claire Rice; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for David will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 11:00AM at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday evening, July 28, from 4-8PM and again on Saturday morning from 10AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
