In Loving Memory of James “Jim” Reum. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim Reum, 80, a cherished father, grandfather, husband, friend, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Jim passed away on February 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and warmth that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on March 24, 1943, in Niles, Michigan to mother Shirley Hilbert and father Otto Reum. Jim embraced the roles of Husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather with unwavering dedication. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, resilience, and unconditional love. As a father, Jim provided a sturdy foundation for his family, offering guidance, support, and a steady hand through life’s ups and downs. In his role as a grandfather, Jim was a source of boundless affection and countless stories. His presence brought joy and laughter to family gatherings, and his wisdom served as a guiding light for the younger generations. Jim’s love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and the memories created with them will forever be cherished.
Beyond his family, Jim was a true friend to many. His genuine kindness, generosity, and easygoing nature endeared him to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. Jim’s friendships were not bound by time or circumstance. He was a steadfast companion, offering support and camaraderie to those in need.
James “Jim” leaves behind his loving wife Carol, married for 14 years; his daughters Wendy (Bill) Tuggle and Tina (Mike) Jackson; sons, Tyler Tuggle Reum, Brian (Stephanie) Dougherty and David Dougherty; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Jim is preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Darlene Reum in 2008. They were married 45 years; Paula Kay Reum (2017) and Michelle Dougherty (2016).
Jim served in the US Navy for 4 years. He was retired from the Plainfield Correctional Facility where he was a physical plant director for 20 years. He also owned an antique shop in Franklin IN with his first wife.
Jim had a great love for flying stunt kites, collecting trains and memorabilia, gardening, carpentry, and a love of learning and teaching what he knew to generations to come.
In honoring Jim’s memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived; a life marked by love, laughter, and a profound impact on all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before him and the generations that continue to carry his legacy forward.
Services to commemorate Jim’s life will be held on Thursday February 8th at 3pm, with calling from 1pm-3pm at Wilson St Pierre Greenwood 481 West Main Greenwood IN 46142.
