Shirley Rose (Hurst) Buckalew, 87, of Greenwood passed away on July 27, 2022, at University Heights Health Care.  Shirley was born on November 28, 1934, in St. Louis, MO to Arthur and Melva (Caulk) Hurst.  Shirley was an Area Manager for Home Interior & Gifts for many years and was the owner of Buckalew’s Antiques in Greenwood after her retirement.  She was a member of Greenwood Christian Church.

Shirley is survived by her son, David (Teresa) Buckalew; daughter Julie (Gary) Grenzow; brother, Jerry (Karen) Hurst; grandchildren: Clay (Sarah) McNeff, Carly (Dan) Wingham, Evan (Amy) McNeff, Ashley (Andre) Futch, Jason Buckalew and Shaun Buckalew; step grandchildren: Tina (Mike) Langford and Nathan (Paige) Grenzow; eleven great grandchildren.  Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Buckalew.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 6:00 PM at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Greenwood with Rev. Shan Rutherford officiating.  There will be a private entombment for Shirley at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Cuddle Me Cat Rescue.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.stpierrefamilyfuneral.com.
