Ms. Essie Sides, 94, of Anderson, IN passed away on July 6, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1928 in Vest, Kentucky to the late Matt and Delilah (Fugate) Combs. She was married to her husband, Joe Sides, for 69 years before his passing in 2016. Essie worked for South Madison Schools as a custodian for a number of years. She loved bowling and gardening. She loved to cook and was well known for her many delicious dishes. Most importantly, she loved her family and spending time with them.
Essie will be dearly missed by her daughters, Sharon Nyman and Kathy (Joe) Whitehead; her brother, Don Combs; her twin sisters, Edith Fitch and Eddath (Elmer) Dobson; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her 8 sisters, Paralee Welch, Grace Moore, Lily Gabbard, Evie Richardson, Hannah Smith, Haley Orr, Alpha Combs, and Ollie Boaz; her 5 brothers, Martin, Amos, Thomas, Richard, and Harrison Combs; and her son-in-law, George Nyman.
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013.
