Nancy Hurt

Nancy Carol (Cannon) Hurt, 81 passed away Thursday, March 14th, 2024 in Indianapolis. Nancy was born February 17th, 1943, to Earl LaRue Cannon and Mabel Lulu Rork. She married David Thomas Hurt on October 2nd, 1959. Together for fifty-nine years, they proudly raised their three Children: daughter, Vicky Lynn and two sons Mark Thomas and David Matthew Hurt II. Nancy and Dave were members of Bethany Mission Baptist Church and throughout her life, Nancy’s faith carried her and her family through life’s many joys and sorrows.

Nancy worked alongside her husband Dave and many family and friends in their shop: Hurts Printing Company, where Nancy worked in the front office for twenty-eight years. Nancy loved collecting angels which warmly decorated her home. She also loved watching the Indiana Pacers Basketball and was a true fan until the end. Over the years she and Dave hosted many Hurt and Cannon family reunions. Welcoming their large families into their home for a day of good food and fellowship together. They also enjoyed intimate Christmas holidays and Thanksgiving dinners with their children and their families. Nancy loved making homemade sweet potatoes and carrying on the tradition of making her mother’s recipe for chicken and noodles each holiday. Nancy will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and child-like giggle, her kind humble heart and sense of humor.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Earl and Mabel Cannon; her husband, Dave; daughter, Vicky, and granddaughter Kelly Kashon.

Left to mourn are her sons, Mark and David (Stacia) Hurt; grandsons, Daniel Hurt, Joshua (Roxanne) Kashon, Luke Ottinger, Jonathan (Julie) Hurt; granddaughters, Mallory, Sarah and Ava Hurt; twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 great-great granddaughter with one on the way. Nancy will be loved, missed, and remembered by many.

Services for Nancy Hurt are Thursday, March 21 at 1:00 PM at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Ave., Indpls., 46227. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until time of service. Entombment will take place immediately following the service at New Crown Cemetery in Indianapolis.
