Olayinka Morohunmubo Sodunke, known to her loved ones as “Yinka,” left this world on October 3, 2023, but her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever remain in our hearts. She was born on July 10, 1972, in the picturesque town of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti, Nigeria, and throughout her life, she touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.
Yinka was a woman of exceptional intellect and ambition. She pursued her academic dreams at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) in Lagos, Nigeria, earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in science in 1998. Her commitment to education was just the beginning of a remarkable journey that spanned both personal and professional accomplishments.
Following her graduation, Yinka embarked on a 16-year career as a civil servant with the Lagos State Auditor General’s office. Her dedication and unwavering work ethic made her a respected figure in her field. She carried out her responsibilities diligently, leaving a lasting mark on the department and earning the admiration of her colleagues and superiors alike.
Beyond her career, Yinka was a devoted wife to her husband Ayodeji Sodunke for 23 years, as well as a committed mother to her three beloved children: Olasunkanmi Sodunke, Olanrewaju Sodunke, and Emmanuella Sodunke. She cherished the time spent with her family and was a loving presence in their lives. Her passion for cooking and the joy she found in preparing meals for her loved ones created memories that will forever be cherished.
Yinka was not just a dedicated professional and a loving mother but also an active and compassionate member of her community in Lagos, Nigeria. She was deeply involved in various community outreach initiatives, particularly through her local church and the homeowners’ association. Her commitment to making her community a better place was evident to all who knew her, and her contributions were invaluable.
In her leisure moments, Yinka enjoyed the occasional outing with her work friends and family, relishing the opportunity to create lasting memories and strengthen the bonds that mattered most to her. Yinka will be remembered as a kind, loving, generous, humble, playful, gentle, and diligent soul.
