Owen Funkhouser

Owen Dale Funkhouser 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at home on June 18, 2019.He was born Indianapolis, IN on October 31, 1956, to Vance D. Funkhouser and Elizabeth A. Naden (Chase).He graduated from Zionsville Community High School 1975 and went to Lincoln Tech to get his certification for Auto Mechanics. He pursed many careers in his life. His intriguing years of being a mechanic along side great friends at Bill Estes to starting a new venture in the family business of window and door installation and construction.Dale was known for his greatest talents in making special woodworking pieces for family and friends. There wasn’t one thing he couldn’t do, and he would prove it. His hobbies were camping, traveling and fishing. Most of all spending time with family and friends.He married the love of his life Nancy (Silvis) in 1973, who passed in 2018. He is survived by Theresa (Ben) Ridding of Zionsville, Amy (Jason) Ingram of Lebanon, Owen Dale II (Brittany) Funkhouser of Kirklin.He will be greatly remembered by his 7 grandchildren Alex, Courtney, Gage, Katie, Dakota, Oliver, and Lukas; and by his brothers Scott (Linda) Funkhouser, Tim Funkhouser, Glenn Funkhouser (Henry); and cherished Aunt Marilyn Funkhouser, cousins Ronnie, Chris, Jeff Funkhouser. And many more fun-loving family and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Nancy (Silvis), Grandparents Othel Dayton and Jewell C. (Hines) Funkhouser, Grandmother Pauline Wheeler.A service will be held at the Zionsville American Legion post #79 on Sunday, July 14th at 2p.m. A Celebration of Life to follow.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boone County Sheriffs Office, 1905 Indianapolis Ave, Lebanon, IN 46052 or Boone County Humane Society 5366 S.
