Phyllis I. Brost

Phyllis Irene Brost, age 77, passed away on December 5, 2023 in Franklin, Indiana. Born on January 22, 1946 in Clinton, Indiana to Ira “Keith” and Virginia Prickett, Phyllis celebrated a loving union with Gerald “Gerry” V. Brost in 1964. A graduate of Purdue University’s Krannert School of Business, she made her career in Lafayette, notably enriching the Community Health Center with her dedicated service. Phyllis also brought her warmth and leadership to the Lafayette Junior Women’s Club, readily forging many friendships and helping the community.

A loving, devoted, and gracious mother, Phyllis’s memory is treasured by her children, Todd Brost (wife Mary), Michelle Dial (husband Chris), and Derek Brost (wife Julianna); her six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, who continue her legacy of loving kindness and resilience. She instilled in them values of compassion, strength, and the importance of family, which they carry proudly, share with others, and will pass down through the generations.

A master seamstress, Phyllis frequented (too) many area fabric stores and her creations ranged from beautiful dresses to children’s costumes. She and Gerry traveled the country, especially cherishing visits with friends and family in any sun-soaked locales during the Indiana winters.

Her family extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community for years of loving care.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis 46227 on December 18, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Casual attire is preferable. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages charitable donations to the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association (https://alz.org/indiana)
