Raymond Max Wagaman, aged 95, peacefully passed away on January 28th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 27th, 1928, to the late Harry and Dorothy (Schafer) Wagaman, Ray led a fulfilling life in Indiana. On June 15th, 1952, he married Jacque Williamson, and together they raised three children in Indianapolis before settling in Zionsville. Ray, who served in the United States Navy from 1947 to 1953 including two tours in the Korean War, had a passion for history, stamp collecting, and travel to warm destinations. Even into his seventies, Ray remained dedicated to his small business.
In his retirement years, Ray found joy in witnessing his family’s growth, welcoming grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for his strong will, occasional stubbornness, immense heart, and a wonderful sense of humor, Ray was a generous and good-natured individual. His impact was felt by all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Ray was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandi (Wagaman) Gilreath, brother Joe (Judy) Wagaman, and sister Nancy (Wagaman) Smith. He is survived by his wife Jacque (Williamson) Wagaman, sons Brian (Sharon) Wagaman and Jeff (Lauri) Wagaman, grandchildren Matt (Gabby), Carli (Jared), Abbigail, Ashley (Joe), Jordan, Bradley (Angela), Liam, and Avery, as well as great-grandchildren Madison, Allie, Kayden, Kaia, Sawyer, and Elaina. His brother, Pat (Alice) Wagaman, also survives him.
