Richard E. Lamb, age 64, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, in Pinellas County Florida while vacationing with his wife. Funeral services will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield Indiana, Fr. Kevin Haines officiating. Visitations will be held Friday evening, May 12, at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care in Zionsville from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday in the church prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Parks Alliance or Friends of Fort De Soto.
Rick was born in Anderson, Indiana on December 19,1958, the son of Earl and Barbara (Wolf) Lamb. He was raised in Pendleton and was a long-time resident of Zionsville. He graduated from General Motors Institute (Kettering) in 1982 with a degree in electrical engineering. He obtained his professional engineer’s license and went on to get an MBA from Indiana University in 1985. He married Carol (McAlindon) Lamb in 1982 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan. He was a beloved husband, dad, and grandpa. An entrepreneur, Rick spent much of his career in the industrial controls and automation industry. He owned several businesses, including Advanced Logic Systems, Control Concepts, Midwest Technology Ventures, and SpecPlus! Automation. Rick enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, boating, sailing, and attending classic car and tractor shows.
He is survived by his wife Carol; children Michael (Lauren) Lamb, David Lamb, Kevin (Alison) Lamb, and Christopher (Katelyn) Lamb; mother Barbara; brothers James (Fay) Lamb and Douglas (Linda) Lamb, sister Susan (Tom) Mathews; grandchildren Elise, Adam, Abigail, Ian, Owen, and Benjamin; sisters-in law Anne (Tim) Ketner and Mary (Joseph) Starrs, Tammy McAlindon; and 22 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Earl D. Lamb; grandparents Ward E. and Ida (Brown) Lamb and Donald and Kathryn (Laymon) Wolf; father & mother-in-law Harold P. and Mary McAlindon; and brother-in-law Paul K. McAlindon.
