Richard and I were high school classmates and great friends. We both were newspaper carriers in Shelbyville for the Indianapolis Star. We were together early every day as we folded the paper and left to deliver the newspaper to our route customers. Had many laughs together during this time and during our school days. I stopped by his house to visit and to see his progress on his sailboat many times. Would be there for his services today, but health issue (pinched nerve from bulging disc) limits my mobility. My sincere condolences to the family. Allen

Dick and I went to Camp Attabury, tore down a barracks and built the pole barn. The picture is of me holding the first piece in the construction of the ketch. He was a brilliant engineer and a great friend.

I worked with Dick at IBM for many years. When I first started with IBM, Dick was my mentor, teacher and great friend. He was always available for assistance, no matter if it was during normal working hours or in the middle of the night. It was a very sad day when I heard of his passing. He was very well liked by all of his peers. RIP Dick

I remember helping Richard clear the area where the pole barn would go after he rebuilt the tractor he would use for that purpose. My favorite memories were of him building the Ketch, and testing the strength of the fiberglass with his 45 caliber pistol, he would leave nothing to chance. He will be missed greatly by all of his friends, RIP my friend.

My sincere condolences to Dick's family and friends. During my career with IBM I enjoyed many opportunities to work with Dick as he assisted me on hardware problems at some of my accounts, e.g., Eli Lilly and INB. Great guy to have worked with and to have known. Jim Ragsdale
