Robert E. Zimmerman

January 2, 1934 - December 21, 2022

Robert E. “Bob” Zimmerman, 88, of Wilkinson, peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.  He was born January 2, 1934, in Knightstown, the son of the late Orlando Paul and Lucy Francis (Ramsey) Zimmerman.

Bob graduated from Knightstown High School in 1952 and from Purdue University in 1956. He enlisted in the USAF in 1956 and proudly served his country until discharged in 1964, he was a keeper of many things and retired as a general manager from Allison Gas Turbine in Indianapolis after 35 years of service. Bob enjoyed retirement with his skill of woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Judith (Segar) Zimmerman; son, Robert E. (Dima) Zimmerman II; daughters, Tracy Jessup, Tami (Jerry) Jackson, Vicki (Tim) Moore, eight grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William E. Adams, Orlando Al Zimmerman; sisters, Virginia (Steve) Harlan and Julia (Herb) Ulrey.

Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life and a barn cleaning in the Spring. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Condo and St. Pierre Funeral Service in Wilkinson.

I’ve known Bob for many years and have always had much respect for him. He and Judy have raised such a wonderful family with great love and support. I am thankful that Bob is in a better place. My father was a hard man to get along with but in time we figuted ways to get past those things which i am happy that we did. He amazed mr with the things he made out of wood. When seeing him in the hospital it was sadden but he n.knew it was his time. I stayed in his room still he pasted. Dad i will miss u. I lovr u. May u rest in peace
