Robert James Lyon

Robert James Lyon passed away in his Zionsville, IN home on the evening of April 18^th 2023, surrounded by his loving wife of 37 years, Bonita Lyon, 3 children and his dog, Willie.

Bob was born on October 23^rd, 1947 in Connersville, IN. He was the first-born son of the late Robert and Thelma Jean (Pippin) Lyon and his younger siblings include Brenda, Ron and Greg Lyon.

Bob attended Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis before moving on to Purdue University, where he graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering. He was the hard working owner of Aircom Metal Products for many years before taking ownership of Wolf Run Golf Club. There, he was able to partake in his favorite hobby – golfing with friends.

Outside of work and golf, Bob had numerous talents and hobbies. One of which being a mastermind electrician, automating the home appliances to confuse his family even in the afterlife. Bob was also an artist and enjoyed painting portraits of his loved ones and the scenic Black Hills, a beloved site where he and his wife loved to travel, along with countless other breathtaking vacation spots. His love for challenging himself translated into ship building, where he tediously spent many hours building intricate models of historic vessels.

Bob is survived by his wife, Bonita Lyon, and children Carrianne Garrison, Chantelle Dodson and Rick Jones, as well as the grandchildren he adored, Layne, Jordan, Bailee, Kayla, Karlyn, Reed, Luke, Taylor and Maci. He was preceded in death by Brenda Lyon and his first furry companion, Leroy.

His family is grateful of Bob’s peaceful rest after a quick and aggressive battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. His wish was to be cremated, which his family is thankful for Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care of Zionsville whom gave them the opportunity to say their final goodbyes.
