Robert “Bob” Ray Harris Sr.

Robert Ray Harris Sr., 81, of Shirley, passed away unexpectantly, Friday morning, January 26, 2024.  He was born March 28, 1942, to Robert and Berniece (Wright) Harris at home in Henry County, Indiana.  Bob married the love of his life Linda (Judge) Harris on June 13, 1965. From this union 3 children were created.  He taught his children well but they still had so much more to learn from him.

He was proud to raise his children on the family’s farm.  You could often find him taking care of his cattle or in his shop working on his latest antique tractor find.  He also worked diligently for Contact Fabricators Incorporated, sharing his abundance of wisdom and bountiful knowledge with them.  His latest accomplishment was the fabrication of a copper coil with exact precision of a part not made in over 50 years.  He was his brother Ron’s friend and confidante as a sounding board for all of life’s quandaries.  Bob was always there to share a coffee break with him. Of course, this was after surviving the brotherly corn cob fights. His family was his priority, teaching his children about faith and farming.  Bob was the loving Grampy to granddaughter Olivia Timmons, they were best friends as they would enjoy visiting Mort’s Auction Field to “kick the tires” of the tractors for sale. He always made sure to document Olivia’s growth with a picture of her on a tractor every year, on her birthday.  Bob was a member of the Pioneer Engineers Club of Indiana, the National Rifle Association and Kennard Friends Church.

Survivors include his son, Robert Ray Harris Jr.; daughters, Melissa Kaye (Keith) Timmons and Jennifer “Jenni” Lynn Harris; and granddaughter, Olivia Anne Timmons; brother, Ron (Barb) Harris; and several nieces and nephews. He also survived by his CFI family, and his faithful furry companions Sam and Joe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Judge) Harris.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 with Pastor Bob Lines officiating.  The visitation will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  All services will be at Condo and St. Pierre Funeral Home in Wilkinson, Indiana.  130 S. Main St., Wilkinson, IN. A burial will follow service at Harlan Cemetery in Wilkinson.
