Ron L. Craney, 79 of Indianapolis, passed away on April 17, 2024. Ron was born to Victor Joseph and Mary (Doyle) Craney on January 28, 1945, in Whitfield, Indiana. He was a man of quiet strength, dry wit, and boundless love. Ron passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy woven with laughter, dedication, and simple joys. Born with a steady spirit, Ron approached life with a quiet resolve. His dry wit and subtle humor brought light to every room, leaving smiles etched in the hearts of those who knew him. A devoted father and grandfather, Ron cherished his family above all else. His children and grandchildren were the heartbeats of his existence. In his relentless pursuit of excellence, Ron exemplified hard work and determination. Ron found solace in the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in the melodies of bluegrass music, the serenity of the old house down home in Loogootee, IN, and the strum of his beloved guitar. And oh, how he had a sweet tooth! Ron loved any and all treats, especially a strawberry shake. Ron leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. May he rest in peace among melodies of bluegrass, forever remembered, and dearly missed.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Eula Traylor, Mary Sue Crouse, Rosie Boese , Ed Craney, and Kathy Fritchie, and his son Tim Craney.
Ron is survived by his wife Frances Craney, children Mark (Annette) Craney and Angela (Thomas) Vaughan, siblings Theresa Berry, Beverly Carrico, Martha Green, Louie Craney, and Rita Lillpop, and his grandchildren, Haley Vaughan, Colin Vaughan, Austin Vaughan, Kacey Craney, and Kara Craney.
A visitation will take place Monday, April 22, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN. A funeral mass will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery in Whitfield, IN.
