Rudy G. Svoboda, 82, of Zionsville, passed away on September 24, 2023. Rudy was born on August 15, 1941, in Berwyn, IL to Georgianna V. Holecek and Rudolph A. Svoboda. He was married to Donna Lee Harrington on August 29, 1964, she survives.
He attended Northern Illinois University, graduating with a B.S. in Mathematics, Ohio University with an M.S. in Mathematics, and Purdue University with a PhD. in Mathematics. He taught mathematics at Purdue University, Fort Wayne, for 37 years, and was also Assistant Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. He retired in 2008. He and his wife moved to Zionsville in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 59 years, his two daughters, Stacy Sappenfield (Andrew), of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Alisa Bengs (Andrew) of Zionsville, IN. Also, five grandchildren: Evan Sappenfield, and Jordan Sappenfield, of Highlands Ranch, CO., and Alexandria Bengs, Adam Bengs, and Alexis Bengs, of Zionsville, IN. Also surviving are his sister, Barbara Janca (Edward), of Billings, MT., and nephew Jeffrey Janca of Billings MT.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Rudy’s life on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 3pm-6pm at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore St. Zionsville, IN 46077.
