Sara Lee (Jessup) Broadwater, 92, of Greenfield passed away on February 22, 2021 at Springhurst Legacy. Sara was born on September 9, 1928 in Grant City, IN to Lowell and Catherine (Compton) Jessup. She married Robert W. Broadwater in 1948. Sara was a homemaker for her husband and children. Sara was a member of the Hancock County Extension Homemakers, the Greenfield Friends Church, and was a volunteer leader for the Triple L 4-H Club. She was also a booster for Eastern Hancock bands and athletics. In later years, Robert and Sara operated Roned’s Tire Store in Knightstown. Sara is survived by her children: Gae (Terry Parker) Broadwater of Frankfort, KY, Claire (Bill Schneider) Broadwater of Atlanta, GA and Ned (Beth) Broadwater of Zionsville; grandchildren: Joseph (Niki Lee) Hutsell of Eatonton, GA, John Hutsell of Bloomington, Austin Broadwater of Indianapolis, Sara Broadwater of Cincinnati and Olivia Broadwater of Zionsville; four great grandchildren: Addison, Victoria, Robert and Oliver; sisters: Nancy (Jim) Pennington of Indianapolis and Joy (Tim) Woodruff of Liberty, IN. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert and nine siblings. There will be a private gathering for Sara at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Home, burial will follow in McCray Cemetery. The family will hold a celebration of Sara’s life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter or to the Greenfield Friends Meeting. Sara’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Seasons Hospice and Springhurst Legacy for their care and comfort during this difficult time.

So very sorry for your loss. Sara was a strong and faithful woman who taught me many things. I was always happy to call her my friend. She will be greatly missed.

Sara was a beautiful woman. Very kind and gentle soul. Her smile could light up a room and that giggle was contagious.

Sara had a loving heart and a kind soul. She didn't know a stranger. Sara was like a 2nd Mom to me.

Sorry for the loss of a family member ....It always hurts when they leave but when u sit down with other family u can remember the good times she gave u.......those u can cherish & share with the young generation. Best mom / grandmother anyone could ever hope for. She provided tremendous service and value to various initiatives throughout the years in Hancock county. Eastern Hancock Band Boosters & Athletic clubs, the Quaker community, 4-H, to name a few, were all greatly enhanced because of her dedication to making a better life for her kids, and kids from the community at large.
