It can be said with all honesty that Shaun had some pretty terrible runs of bad luck. I even went so far as to tell my husband one day that I thought Shaun might possibly be cursed. If something could go wrong it would, and it would happen to Shaun. One time in a fit of despair after a particularly sad phone call with him, I ran to the computer and googled “how to break a curse.” But then something happened – he died.unexpectedly of a heart attack, and as we began to make arrangements for his funeral, I started to see Shaun and his life in a completely different way. Shaun suffered so many heartaches and disappointments that for the longest time I only saw those things, but now I see something else – his resilience. In the face of all those set backs Shaun had something truly divine – he had hope. I never had a conversation with Shaun that started with a new heartbreak that didn’t end in the affirmation that tomorrow would be better. He was always making plans – plans for when things were different, for the future that he held out so much hope for. And that’s when I realized that Shaun Anderson wasn’t cursed at all, he was blessed. He was blessed with so much love and hope in his heart that he literally could not foresee a future for himself or his family that was anything less than wonderful. More than anything else in this world, Shaun loved his children and his family. His last moments were spent writing Christmas cards for Connor and Nicole, while shopping with his mother. With this is mind, we would like to extend our warmest and most heart-felt MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of Shaun’s loved ones. May the season bring you many blessings, and much hope for the coming New Year.
