Sue Ellen Johnson

77 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Sunday, January 29th, 2023. She was born November 29th, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Chester & Clara (Shonk) Woolwine. She was a 1963 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School.  Sue worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield/Anthem for many years where she became a Certified Life Underwriter.  She also earned a BA degree from University of Indianapolis in 2000.   She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. 

 

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Johnson Jr. after 36 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Chris (Donna) LaFollette; daughter, Michele (Brian) Isbell; step-son, Lee (Dana) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Quentin & Bain LaFollette, Zelan & Indie Isbell, Kayla (Jake) Barton, Daniel & Roxana and Rebecca Johnson.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, February 4th from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at Calvary Lutheran Church 6111 Shelby St, Indianapolis, IN 46227 with a service starting at 2:00pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The Continuum Care Hospice Foundation Inc., and please add onto the memo line: “IMO (Sue E. Johnson) Indiana” and mail to 2302 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY 11229.

 

Sue wished to share this verse: 2Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

My sisters and I rode to work (BCBS) with Sue in the 1980’s. She lived across the street from my sister Diane Ancelet in Farhill Downs. We always had fun on the rides to and from work and I’ll never forget getting off oh 65 to 465 and Sue giving instructions on changing lanes 1–2-3! She was so seeet and now she is heaven with Diane😇
