Mrs. Sylvia Jean

Sylvia Jean Adkinson Carter, 81, of Zionsville, died April 14, 2016.� Jean was born April 11, 1935 in Indianapolis to Arnold Luther and Ola Pearl Chastain Adkinson.Jean grew up in Zionsville, having been the Centennial Celebration Queen in 1952. She attended Zionsville schools where she met Robert Paul Carter whom she wed on October 10, 1953.� Together they grew and built Carter Van Lines & A -1 Storage in to a highly successful company serving people’s moving and storage needs from all over the country.Jean lived life to its fullest, having fun always, enjoying the simple pleasures of shopping, dinners out, spending time with family, and even learning to play golf at age 79.� She will be most remembered for her smile, her never-ending kindness, genuine personality that brightened the days of many.� She will be forever loved and missed.Surviving Jean is her husband, Jim Osborne whom she married October 19, 2013; her children, Mickey Edwards (Dave) and Mike Carter; her grandchildren, Justin Edwards, Marcus Edwards, Kelli Edwards Yoquelet (Travis), Rachel Carter Updike (Kenny); and her great-grandson, Harrison Carter Yoquelet.� Also surviving is her brother, Bud Adkinson (Dee); her sister, Debi McOwen (David); her step-sons, Jeff, Darrell, and Dean Osborne; and her brothers-in-law, Bob and Gary Osborne.Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sandy Clark; and her first husband, Robert Paul Carter who she was married to almost 58 years when he died on August 9, 2011.Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm, Friday April 22, 2016 at the Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th St, with a funeral service being held 11 am Saturday, April 23, 2016 also at the church.� Burial will follow the service at Zionsville Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th St., Zionsville, IN 46077Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, Indianapolis.� You are invited to share your memory or offer condolences at www.simplicityfuneralandcremationcare.com
