Jerry and Linda Berger left a message on January 29, 2024:
I met Vance on my first day of work at the Pioneer Tipton office. Over the next 20 years we spent a lot of time together traveling to and from business meetings and collaborating at company and customer meetings. Linda and I have enjoyed Vance and Reba's friendship no matter when we called them you were welcome at their home. Vance may be gone but he has left us with many fond memories from our times together.

When I joined Pioneer in 1973, Vance and I worked in the upstairs of the old white house on Main Street in Tipton, Indiana. Vance was a terrific influence in my career. He always gave good advice for a young 26 year old. He was always fun to talk about Purdue Football and Basketball. He was a true Boilermaker and he was very loyal to Pioneer. He will be missed by all the Pioneer family.

Mark Iwig left a message on January 22, 2024:
When I was hired as the Soft Red Winter Wheat Station manager for Pioneer Hi-Bred International in 1977 I had the privilege to work closely with Vance for 13 years as Vance was in charge of Soft Wheat sales for Pioneer. I was fresh out of graduate school and Vance immediately took me under his wing and provided a lot of valuable mentoring and wisdom from his years of experience. I have many fond memories of interacting with Vance and especially sharing time together on the Pioneer twin prop planes doing wheat tours across the eastern US each year. A number of memorable things happened on these tours that I will never forget and they always trigger very fond memories of Vance and other Pioneer colleagues. I express my deepest sympathy and condolences to Reba and the entire York family. Mark Iwig

Bob Iwig left a message on January 22, 2024:
I was so sorry to hear about Vance's passing. I remember when I started my career with Pioneer in 1978 in wheat research, and Vance was supporting wheat on the sales side. He was always so positive and an encouragement, even though wheat was a minor crop for Pioneer. He was always a delightful person to know and be around. My condolences to Reba and family.
Julia Voigt left a message on January 22, 2024:
Mike and I were blessed to know Vance and Reba through ZUMC, where we enjoyed their friendship and Vance's singing (a favorite: "I Walked Where Jesus Walked Today"). We also spent time with Vance at the State Fair, watching him in the tractor parade and the Beatles musical. We will miss his gentle manner and loving heart. Unfortunately we are not able to attend the Zionsville services, but we are holding the family in our prayers.
Phil Jordan left a message on January 21, 2024:

Don Villwock left a message on January 19, 2024:
I considered Vance a good friend. Mauri Williamson introduced us at Pioneer Village. When Vance found out I was from northern Knox county we instantly shared stories and tales about families and friends. I knew where his farm was and he knew where mine was too. We were Pioneer seed customers and occasionally seed producers, and I served on the state 4-H foundation board so we had so much in common. I enjoyed every conversation and I was so blessed our paths had crossed. May your hearts be filled with fond memories. Don Villwock
