Mr. Virgil “JR” Lee Nelson, Jr., 52, of Crawfordsville, passed away May 10, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. JR was born Feb. 10, 1962 in Marion Co., IN, a son of the late Virgil Lee and Deloris (Keller) Nelson, Sr. He was married to Lisa Jeannette Moore. She died in 2012. JR worked for Random House in Crawfordsville. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and watching NASCAR. Survivors include his children Joseph Lee Nelson of Indianapolis and Ashley Nelson of Crawfordsville; grandchildren: Joseph Lee Nelson, Jr., Trever Lell Nelson and Nevaeh Roberta Nelson; siblings Paulette (Donn) Proctor of Beech Grove and David (Beckey) Nelson and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Family and friends will gather Saturday, May 16, 2015 for visitation from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. in the Porter Funeral Home in Jamestown, IN. JR will be laid to rest at the Ladoga Cemetery in Ladoga. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
