Uncle Avery was everything an uncle should be. Caring, kind and sweet. I remember as a child going to Aunt Patti and Uncle Avery’s house for a sleepover. They would create a magical time for us. I know he is without pain now and with his loved ones who have gone before.

My uncle Avery has always been so special to me. When I was a very little girl, he was just bigger than life, and I always was so excited to get to Russell Springs to see him and his brother, Buddy. They would play with my sister and I and I remember being placed on their shoulders as they ran around the yard sometimes jumping over shrubbery! I remember when he started dating Patti and I immediately thought she was the best thing ever was so excited when she became my aunt. I remember when they took me to MCL cafeteria, and made me feel so grown up and special. There were many overnight visits that were always exciting and fun. And of course he and Patti were with my sister, and I when my mother took her last breath— always there to support and love us. He loved the book, Silas Marner, and would tell me things he remembered from it. I always told him I was going to read that book, but I never did. I’m going to be sure to find it and read it now in his honor. I always felt so loved by my uncle Avery and I sure did love him. I will miss him greatly.
