William “Bill” C. Compton

William “Bill” C. Compton Jr., 79, of Avon passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Bill was born in Louisville, KY on March 8, 1944, a son of the late William Sr. and Pauline (Smith) Compton. He worked most recently as a truck driver for USF Holland, as well as with his son for Floating Docks. In his free time, he loved to play music as a guitarist, often playing in a band on the weekends.  Above all, he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Carol; children: Andrea (Bill) Stevens, Angela Compton, Todd (Rhonda) Compton, Mandy (Danny) Soto and Megan Compton; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donnie and Kenneth Compton.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 9am until the time of his funeral service at 11am at First Baptist Church, 1012 Stafford Rd. Plainfield, IN 46168. He will be laid to rest following the funeral service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Monrovia, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the First Baptist Church in Plainfield.
