William Russell “Bill” Cameron, 76, of Zionsville passed away on January 21, 2022. Bill was the son of Grover R. Cameron and Sara E. Archer. Bill was born July 2, 1945, in Indianapolis Indiana. Bill graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1963. He grew up in Indianapolis Indiana before moving to Ft. Wayne Indiana with his family. Bill was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam in 1966 to 1967. He met his lovely wife Lynn in Ft. Wayne Indiana, while working at his father’s fence company Fen Guard, and they were married in 1971.Anyone who knew Bill knew he never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and knew your whole family tree when the conversation was over. Bill was a huge racing fan. He loved Indy Car and NASCAR. He attended the Indy 500 a total of 53 times! Bill enjoyed watching most sports but really enjoyed Notre Dame football. Bill also was a lover of music. Wherever he was there was music playing. Any of his children would tell you he could have been on the show “Name That Tune.” He had such an ear for songs and the artist who sang them. Bill was really known for being a true fence building aficionado. Bill had worked in the fence building business since he was a teenager. He learned the trade from his grandfather and his father. Bill started his first fence business back in the early 70’s. He has since passed the fence building gift down to his son Russ, who continues the legacy of Cameron’s building fence as a 4th generation installer. Bill still beat his son Russ to the office everyday and had coffee brewing until his death. His children and grandchildren were of course the highlight of his life. His grandchildren of course being the biggest. Keatan was his Sunday breakfast buddy. Emily was his magpie girl who always had a story to tell. Olivia was his quiet, pretty little girl. Megan was his favorite swimmer girl. Lucas was his favorite artist. Jacob had the most pinchable little butt he always tried to pinch. Jackson was his smart national landmark historian, and Silas was his sweet little cuddle buddy.
